In January 1995 I put together a piano recital for Bartok Radio, with a programme that was highly unusual for Hungary. I started and finnished with 3 pieces from Olivier Messiaen’s Vingt Regards sur l’enfant-Jésus, played the Piano Sonata by Aaron Copland in the middle and – for a local flavour – the first of  Béla Bartók’s Three Rondos on Folk Tunes. I don’t think the Messiaen and the Copland had ever been performed in Hungary before. The concert attracted the attention of the celebrated critic, broadcaster and writer, György Kroó, who dedicated his weekly radio broadcast to a discussion of the event.

I have uploaded some recordings to YouTube, along with the radio review by Gyorgy Kroo.
