I took up the saxophone aged 15, and was privileged to study with Stephen Trier and then, at the Royal Academy of Music, with Richard Addison. I set the instrument aside for many years, but have picked it up sporadically from time to time. I joined the SOAS Cuban Band in 2010 and went on tour to Cuba with them. More recently I’ve used saxophone for Today is Good! an educational project based in eastern Sicily. Today is Good! recently recorded its first CD, on which I play two beautiful Selmer mark VIs – my own alto, and my brother’s tenor.
